OCEAN FITNESS TRAINING

Training in the environments you wish to excel in is essential. And when it comes to aquatic environments, there is no harder task master than Mother Ocean!

Our small-group ocean fitness sessions are designed to make you work. HARD!!  We systematically test each of the 6 Pillars of Watermanship in every session, challenging students and taking them to new levels no matter the weather or sea state.

Course Overview

The small-group ocean fitness sessions are less a "course" and more an adventure into the unknown! Training can be tailored to suit student needs and specialities, however they are regular changed to ensure they are fun, stimulating and challenging.

Who is this course for...?

This course is suitable for watermen, waterwomen and watergrommets of all levels and abilities. It is not compulsory to have completed a Basic Watermanship course prior to booking theses sessions (however you will get much more out of it if you have!!).

 

PRICING

Starting from AU$100 / hour (excluding GST) [Minimum 2 hours; Max group size 4]

Multiple Sessions Programme: Starting from AU$550 [Includes 4 x 2hr sessions]

Minimum standards

As for Basic WATERMANSHIP PROGRAMME

Students must be able to swim and be medically fit (see below).

Minimum age is 16.

To obtain the Basic Waterman certification, students must:

  • Pass a theory test with a score of at least 80%

  • Perform a static apnea of at least 1’45”

  • Perform a dynamic-no-fins underwater swim of 25 m

  • Complete a 200m swim in under 8min

  • Correctly demonstrate survival swimming techniques

  • Perform a black out rescue on the surface

  • Tread water for 5mins (without wetsuit)

  • Wetsuit (board shorts/bikini/swimsuit minimum)

Medical Fitness

You will be asked to complete a medical declaration as part of your course registration. Unless you suffer a medical condition that is a contradiction to watermanship training, you will not be required to complete a medical examination.

Students with contradicting medical conditions, however, will be required to undergo a Dive Medical that meets the Australian Standard 4005.1. We require documentation of this prior to course participation.

Medical conditions that are of concern to watermanship training are: lung conditions, heart conditions, epilepsy, diabetes, any ear problems or any other major medical conditions.
